1. In sweltering conditions and with a fast outfield, Alvington accumulated quickly. As at Magdalen, John Claydon again proved a thorn in the side, with a well hit 66. Richard Heller produced a masterly spell of bowling to restrict the Alvington score. Bill Bush held on to another skier.
2. The Erratics’ innings started solidly, with a second wicket partnership of 89 between Hywel Roberts and David Brook. Brian Berrigan and Mike Long accelerated the score with some hard hitting. At the start of the last over, the Erratics needed 5 to win, Alvington needed 5 wickets. The final over went:
