| From a pool of 18 interested players, skipper James Rivington had
selected a squad of 13. The Erratics ended up travelling with 11 players, South Wraxall produced just
seven, so we played nine-a-side (with a sub to make it 10 in the field). Richard Heller and Peter Andrews
nobly volunteered to turn traitor. James won the toss and elected to field. |
| With Giles Middletons radar not properly plugged in, and with
James serving up one or two helpful deliveries, the South Wraxall innings made good progress.
Particularly insulting was Peters contempt for the Erratics fielding, as he played tip and run.
Finally he paid the price by trying to cut one that nipped back at him. |
| The introduction of Bill Bushs gentle flight and John
Truscotts spin yielded further success, Bill getting two lbw decisions and John removing the other
opener with unplayable turn. |
| Now the paralysed batsmen played out a succession of maidens
not helped by a calamitous run out (good work by Tristan Ward) and John and Chris Dunabin picked
up a couple more wickets. |
| In his first over since 1996, Simon Davie wrapped things up with
a sharp return catch, joyfully celebrated. |
